That is the question. In my case, this is my dilemma for the B4 Subaru Legacy 2.5 gt.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Here's a list of pros and cons of wagon-ing.

Pros:

-More room for activities

-More rare

-Extra sleeper factor

-Better weight distribution (than the sedan)

-Nobody will steal it

-Invisible to police

Cons:

-Everyone will think its an Outback

- Heavier than the sedan

- More road noise

- More top heavy

-Invisible to the opposite sex

What say you, Oppo?

EDIT: After an overwhelming response, this seems to be Oppo's general opinion:

Kinja'd!!!

Can't say I expected anything less!

Having owned an O5 LGT wagon...my answer is WAGON!!! But I might be a little biased. :)

Wagon, because pros outweigh cons like a sumo outweighs a wrestler.

Wagon. Your con #1 should be irrelevant, #2 to #5 are all pretty insignificant compared to the sedan.

I say wagon. Lower it with some wide wheels and deep offset.

Your final con is false, bitches love the wagons.

the answer always is - the wagon.

And they are not invisible to chicks, you are invisible while they are keeping you company in back

The reaction so far is pretty much what one would expect to result from posing such a question to the Oppo community. I'm on board too. Wagon all the way. Rented the smaller engine version in Europe a few years back, and it was very good.

Wagon.

And ladies start to love wagons after they realize how much more space and comfiness there is. For activities that is.

IMO, not something the good folks of Oppo can answer for you.

If you need the extra space, get the wagon. If you like the look of the sedan, get the sedan.

Well shoot, after all that, I say go your own way, set your own standards, blaze your own path, don't follow the herd - sedan all the way.

Having engaged in many a shenanigan in the back of my ex's Outback Wagon, I can confirm that it is a near-ideal place for the improving of inter-gender relationships. On top of that, I find the wagon to be better looking (I'm not a fan of the ass on the sedan), and the sleeper factor is through the roof on that thing.

Honestly with the oppo switch set to off.. go wagon. If yours will look that good low on wheels...then jesus get that.

Not going to go QUITE that low, as I am averse to the idea of having my spine turned to fine dust, but I agree that is some extremely sexy stance.

This car made me fall in love with these wagons back in '06. I often consider trading in my wife's equinox for one like this. We have been car payment free for about 3 years and I just can't see going back to that.

Cmon man, make the rational choice! Weight distribution and activities trump people on the street thinking it's an Outback.

WAGON! Biased, as I own one too. It's a great car. I'm used to smaller cars so its a bit of weight to lug around, but apart from that, it's fantastic. Fast, comfortable, looks great, handles surprisingly well. Here's my girl! -

Too bad :( Isn't the problem fixable with a basic aftermarket clutch upgrade though?

The clutch is definitely the weakest point on these things. I changed mine soon after I got the car, and it still acts in ways I can't quite understand sometimes.

Beautiful car, very tastefully done! Black looks great on this car but its so hard to keep clean that I'm too scared to get it. (I have a dirt driveway)

It was a surprise to me, too!

I also own a Toyota Matrix XRS (the real XRS, not the new bodykitty XRS). And I yearn for a CTS-V wagon (which is also always the answer).

wagon.

Yup, my car ALWAYS looks like it's dirty. All mods were done by the previous owner...all of which for once I actually approved of. It's got dark tint all around (except front windows per CA law) and it actually looks really cool how it blends in with the colour of the car and the wraparound trunk window. Slightly lowered on konis, sway bars, very slight tune, that's it...I'd love to get an exhaust, but there's nothing affordable that doesn't sound like I might have frosted blonde tips in my hair :P

Tried that went with a carbon/ceramic upgrade still burnt out in 10k miles...mechanic thought it was a problem with gear ratios and told me to trade it for something with a warranty, which I did. I still miss it though. :(
